The Design Process
We approach remodeling and additions in much the same way we would approach a new build – with the client in mind. Renovations and additions can, in many ways, be more complex than designing an entire home because you have an existing framework and foundation to build around, rather than starting from scratch.
These renovations always begin with the preliminary meeting and advance to proposals, surveys, schematics and pricing details. Like new home construction, we use CAD software to model the homes and present it to clients prior to final approval. Our team has extensive experience remodeling kitchens and homes in the Wilmington Historic District, and no job is too big or too small.
During the entire process we maintain communication with the clients so they completely understand the status of the project. In terms of renovations and additions, we always emphasize the design process to prevent any issues during the demolition and construction phase. Unlike new home construction, people must relocate or live with the renovations while they’re occurring.
The Building Process
The building process for additions or whole home renovations also mirrors the building process for new residential homes.
In the case of renovations (and to some extent, additions) additional time is spent on demolition and removal of the old debris. Once the home has been prepared for the construction phase, we use our trusted and expert subcontractors for anything from framing to flooring. One of the highlights of working with us is our use of the Co-Construct software, which allows our build team and clients to be in lock step 24/7/365.
The building process should, with a proper design process, be a straightforward proposition. That said, owner Doug Echols will personally do daily and weekly job site visits to maintain quality and schedule.
